At Wild Rose Hot Tubs we know you have questions about owning, these questions are important to us. The questions usually relate to the expected running costs, and ongoing maintenance, but can also include things like planning permission and the installation process.

With trusting Wild Rose Hot Tubs and our experience, we have a wealth of knowledge/experience regarding tubs and want to share our knowledge regarding the most common questions regarding both purchase and ownership.

  • Do you need planning permission?

    Generally, you do not need city/town planning permission to install a hot tub on your property. However, you might have a placement or a tub on a deck, or on your property that might need to be confirmed, it is recommended that you should seek advice from the local council. It wouldn’t hurt to check.

  • Where can a hot tub be installed?

    Almost anywhere, be close to a power outlet and a tap to fill it! A solid level base to set the tub on is important. Keep in mind after the tub is filled with people AND water, they can be very heavy, so take care in where to position the tub.

  • How long does it take for a tub to fill up?

    Great question, this depends on your chosen way to fill the tub, the size of the tub you have, and the water pressure. On average with a standard hose and average-sized tub, it should take no longer than 2 hours to fill up with water.

  • How long does it take for a hot tub to get hot?

    This is similar to the filling of the tub. This depends on the size of your hot tub, how much water in the tub and type of tub, as the heaters in the tubs vary. But most of the time, owners will have to wait up to 24 hours or so.

  • How much does it cost to run?

    The most common question for those owning or looking to own a hot tub. Modern hot tubs are constantly improving at keeping the water warm., they don’t cost as much as you think.
    With great insulation, what temperature you want the water at, climate, usage (pumps on/off, water added to top off), and the cost of energy are the variables of the cost to run your hot tub. On top of that, good quality covers can stop heat from escaping and will help to reduce your energy bills too. The most efficient systems can cost as little as $11/m up to $50/m

  • What is the ideal temperature?

    Every person could have a different answer for this as it would be personal preference, however, most people will keep their spas and tubs at around 37C during summer.
    In winter and colder temperatures can increase the temperature to 42C or so. Anything above this temperature is considered dangerous and should be avoided.

  • What are the real health benefits of hot tub ownership?

    The list of health benefits of hot tubs is endless. For starters, they improve sleep, reduce stress, relieve muscle pain and increase joint mobility. Many great reasons to enjoy a hot tub on the comfort of your property, especially those individuals who find it hard to perform other exercise methods due to age, illness or even injury.

  • How long should you stay in a hot tub for?

    Pregnant women or those with pacemakers should consult their doctor immediately before jumping in and making a purchase. Once in the hot tub ensure you drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration – please use caution on drinking alcohol.
